The US Department of Justice (DOJ) has objected to the extradition of Terra (LUNA) founder Do Kwon to South Korea.

In a news presented by Bloomberg on March 8th Friday, US prosecutors were reported to oppose the extradition of LUNA founder Do Kwon to South Korea.

The Montenegrin court had decided on March 7th to extradite Kwon to South Korea and not to the US. According to the South Korean media, Kwon’s extradition is still awaiting the final approval of Montenegrin Justice Minister Andrej Milović.

Do Kwon had previously objected to being extradited to the US to avoid facing charges related to the Terra crash that caused a major downturn in the cryptocurrency market.

While US prosecutors argue that Do Kwon would receive a lesser punishment in South Korea and wouldn’t get what he deserves, they emphasized the necessity of his extradition to the US for a healthy resolution of the process.
