Crypto project Curio Invest, focused on real world assets (RWA), has fallen victim to a cyber attack worth millions of dollars.

According to data provided by on-chain security firm Cyvers Alerts, Curio Invest recently suffered a $16 million cyber attack. The attack targeted MakerDAO-based smart contracts.

Using the same security vulnerability, the attackers managed to mint 1 billion GTC tokens. The wallets belonging to the attackers currently hold $39.7 million worth of cryptocurrency.

A statement by the team detailed that all user funds are safe:

We have just been informed of the exploitation of smart contracts in our ecosystem. Unfortunately, the MakerDAO-based smart contracts used within our ecosystem were exploited. We are actively addressing the situation and will keep you updated. Rest assured, all Polkadot and Curio Chain contracts will remain secure.
