Bitcoin’s (BTC) halving is already making its impact felt with the upcoming Runes Protocol.
The Bitcoin halving will take place on April 19, and during this time, a new protocol called Runes will come into existence. The highly anticipated Runes Protocol has already attracted significant attention, increasing transaction activity on the Bitcoin network while also causing transaction costs to rise.
One of Bitcoin’s leading developers, Casey Rodarmor, successfully added NFTs to Bitcoin with the Ordinals protocol. Now, taking it a step further, he is gearing up to launch the Runes protocol.
According to data from CryptoSlam, the BRC-20 protocol PUPS recently hosted transactions worth hundreds of millions of dollars, highlighting the expectations for Runes. PUPS became the second most voluminous BRC-20 collection in the last seven days. Each PUPS can be converted into the PUPS Runes token once Runes is launched.
PUPS also stands out as the first meme coin on the Bitcoin network.
