In his statement on the subject, the economist targeted Bitcoin investors and asked, “Are you celebrating tonight with a party?” He issued a veiled warning that the Bitcoin halving will soon cause investors’ net assets to be halved:
Congratulations to Bitcoin holders for the halving. Are you celebrating tonight with parties? I wasn’t invited to any. I think halving is an appropriate name for what’s happening, as Bitcoin investors will soon experience their net worth being halved.
The economist, who often attracts attention with his anti-Bitcoin statements, had also mentioned the possibility of a sale from institutional investors in the past, stating that Bitcoin’s price could start to decline.
